DOT is cracking down on magazine stands/boxes by issuing summonses and removing boxes from those without proper permits, not following size requirements, or not paying outstanding summonses.They are also cracking down on those who overfill the stands and put the magazines outside or on top of the stands where only inside is permitted. This makes the neighborhood dirty, with complaints that people can't walk or cross due to magazines on streets, causing summons for property owners.
