Mayor Zohran Mamdani has launched the new “Renew Crew,” a 24-member team of painters, electricians, plumbers and other specialists tasked with speeding up repairs at playgrounds, recreation centers and sports courts across the five boroughs. The team will handle projects including repainting equipment, fixing fencing and amenities, replacing playground flooring and addressing general wear and tear, with repairs targeted for completion within three weeks. NYC Parks says the crew will take on as many as 30 projects each year.
