Mayor Zohran Mamdani announced a $4 billion plan to rehabilitate the city-owned section of the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway. The 10-year project, expected to begin in 2030, will include repairs to the deteriorating triple cantilever and temporary bypass highways to keep traffic moving during construction. City officials say the aging stretch carries about 130,000 vehicles daily and is already 20 years past its design life.
