City officials are clarifying confusion surrounding the new pied-à-terre tax after some homeowners mistakenly believed they were being targeted. The Department of Finance says the recently published list includes all residential properties on the city's tax roll—not just homes subject to the new tax. The surcharge, which takes effect next year, will apply only to secondary residences valued above $5 million. Homeowners who received notices can apply for exemptions by Aug. 21 (homes/condos) or Aug. 24 (co-ops).
