New York City has ended a pilot program that allowed residents to leave their vehicles parked during scheduled street-cleaning periods. According to the Department of Sanitation, compliance dropped from 73% to 62%, and 913 summonses were issued during the trial. Officials say the program made street cleaning more difficult, and regular alternate side parking regulations have been reinstated.
