UK: British adventurer Karl Bushby has arrived back in his hometown of Hull after completing an extraordinary 28-year journey around the world on foot. The 57-year-old former paratrooper set off from Chile in 1998 and has since travelled around 31,000 miles (50,000km), crossing jungles, deserts and frozen seas without using motorised transport to advance his journey. Bushby, who was spotted walking through Stamford Hill a couple of weeks ago, received a hero’s welcome as he returned to Hull, where he is being reunited with his family, including a 12-year-old granddaughter he has never met.
