Israel: With all votes now counted in Tuesday’s general election, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s bloc has won 53 seats, ahead of Gadi Eisenkot’s opposition bloc on 48, while the Arab-led parties secured a record 19 seats. Netanyahu’s Likud emerged as the largest party with 27 seats, followed by Eisenkot’s Yashar with 21. Shas won six seats and United Torah Judaism seven. Neither bloc has secured the 61 seats needed for a majority, leaving Israel facing potentially lengthy coalition negotiations. The Central Elections Committee says its investigation into alleged election interference will not affect the results, which are due to be formally presented to President Isaac Herzog on Wednesday, 4 November.
