Israel: Israel is reportedly considering expelling British representatives from the US-backed international coordination centre for Gaza in Kiryat Gat, amid a growing diplomatic dispute with the UK. The move is being weighed as Britain is said to be considering a complete ban on trade in goods from West Bank settlements and other measures in response to Israel’s planned expansion of the controversial E1 settlement project. A source familiar with a recent call between Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar and British Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband said: “Sa’ar made very clear to the Foreign Secretary that Israel cannot allow punitive measures to be taken against it without responding.” The source added that measures more severe than expelling British officials from the International Gaza Support Center are also under consideration.
