UK: Reform UK leader Nigel Farage has called on Prime Minister Andy Burnham to declare a “national security emergency” over small boat crossings in the English Channel. Speaking during Prime Minister’s Questions, Farage linked illegal Channel crossings to concerns about Iran and the recent arrests of Iranian nationals, asking whether it was time for the government to recognise the situation as a national security emergency. Burnham acknowledged the seriousness of recent security incidents at RAF Fairford but insisted that Channel crossings were falling and removals increasing. “There is much more to be done, but there is clearly progress in the right direction,” the prime minister said.
