UK: London Mayor Sadiq Khan says he is the victim of a “scam” after being convicted and fined for failing to tax a car which City Hall says he does not own. Khan was convicted in his absence last month of keeping an untaxed 24-year-old Nissan Micra and ordered to pay £340.84 in fines, costs and unpaid tax. Court documents show that letters from the DVLA intended for Khan were instead sent to a restaurant owned by celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, near the Transport for London offices in Stratford. City Hall says someone falsely registered the vehicle in Khan’s name, while the DVLA has now launched an investigation and is reviewing the prosecution.
