UK: Two Iranian nationals appeared at the Old Bailey today, accused of plotting a terrorist bomb attack against Manchester’s Jewish community. Rahman Salehi, 34, and Salam Ahmadyan, 36, arrived in Britain illegally by small boat in 2020 and 2023 respectively. Salehi was granted asylum, while Ahmadyan’s application remains outstanding. The pair allegedly carried out surveillance of Jewish sites, including Heaton Park synagogue, on the eve of Yom Kippur last month, and received bomb-making instructions from an individual believed to be in Iran. Both are expected to plead not guilty, with their trial scheduled for June 2027.
