UK: At least 291 flights have been cancelled at UK airports so far today as disruption from yesterday’s air traffic control failure continues for a second day, according to aviation analytics firm Cirium. The cancellations include 120 departures and 171 arrivals, following around 1,750 cancellations on Tuesday, after a fault with the processing system at National Air Traffic Services (Nats) headquarters. The disruption has prompted calls for Martin Rolfe, the boss of Nats, who is paid £1.5m a year, to resign, after presiding over three meltdowns in four years. He said this morning that Nats had “ruled out” the chaos being caused by a cyber attack, adding that “a very, very thorough and full investigation” would take place.
