Israel: An Israeli passenger who helped subdue the attacker aboard this morning’s flight has told Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu how he dragged the man away from the controls before helping stabilise the nosediving aircraft. Yaniv said he and another passenger forced their way into the cockpit, where they found the wounded pilot lying near the door. “When I went in, I saw the terrorist on the controls, between the two seats. There were no pilots in the seats,” he recounted. “I grabbed the terrorist, put him in a hold, and first of all pulled him outside.” Asked by Netanyahu what the man was doing, Yaniv replied: “He was trying to destroy the controls in order to disable the plane.” After calling other Israelis to help restrain the man, Yaniv returned to the cockpit as the aircraft tilted sharply. “I jumped back in there, grabbed the controls, started pulling the controls,” he said, adding that he knew what to do because “I watch Mayday”.
