Israel: The IDF says it fired warning shots after Lebanese soldiers and heavy machinery crossed around 150 metres into an Israel-held buffer zone in southern Lebanon, outside one of the pilot areas where the Lebanese Armed Forces is being deployed. The Lebanese army had accused Israel of firing near the pilot zone. The IDF said its troops in the Zawtar al-Sharqiyah area identified the LAF personnel “breaching barriers” and entering the buffer zone. The Lebanese forces were due to deploy to the adjacent town of Zawtar al-Gharbiya following an Israeli withdrawal. The IDF said the move was “contrary to the understandings between the parties” and that its troops “fired warning shots into the air only, which did not endanger the Lebanese army personnel, to distance them from the area.” Join EJN: https://wa.me/447443160130?text=Hi!%20I%20would%20like%20to%20subscribe%20to%20the%20EJN.%20My%20name%20is:%20
