Europe: French authorities say 157 migrants have been rescued this morning after the boat they were using to cross the Channel to the UK caught fire. The people rescued are being taken to the port of Boulogne-sur-Mer. There are no reports of anyone being injured or killed. The French maritime prefecture said that overnight, "five people on board the vessel required rescue... the remaining people on board refused the assistance offered by the French patrol boats". "Determined to reach the United Kingdom, migrants crossing the Channel in small boats refused assistance offered by French emergency service, accepting it only in situations of extreme emergency," it added in a statement. Two French boats reportedly rescued 103 migrants and the British boats rescued 54.
