London: The introduction of ULEZ has been linked to significant improvements in children’s lung growth, according to a new study. Researchers monitored more than 3,400 children in London and Luton between 2018 and 2022. Before ULEZ was introduced, children in London had significantly smaller lungs, but their lung development subsequently improved to become comparable with children in Luton. London mayor Sir Sadiq Khan said the research "proves we were right to act and reinforces my decision to extend the benefits of cleaner air to every child in London".
