UK: Household energy bills are set to rise again from October after Ofgem announced a 4% increase to the energy price cap. The typical annual bill for households on variable tariffs paying by direct debit will rise by £60 to £1,723. The increase has been driven by higher wholesale energy costs linked to the Iran war and disruption in the Strait of Hormuz. Analysts have warned bills could rise by a further 9% in January if wholesale prices remain high.
