Germany: Two men have been jailed over Iranian-backed plots to assassinate prominent Jewish and pro-Israel figures, following convictions involving espionage and attempted participation in murder. A Hamburg court sentenced Ali S., a 54-year-old Danish citizen of Afghan origin, to eight-and-a-half years in prison, while Tawab M., a 43-year-old Afghan national, received four-and-a-half years. Ali S. carried out surveillance on Josef Schuster, president of Germany's Central Council of Jews, and Volker Beck, head of the German-Israeli Society. He subsequently recruited Tawab M. to help find a gunman and obtain a silenced pistol for Beck's assassination. The court found that Ali S. received instructions from Iran's Revolutionary Guards' Quds Force and had also prepared an arson attack against a kosher shop in Berlin.
