Nepal: The death toll from the floods and mudslides on the Nepal-Tibet border has risen to at least 332, with 910 people still missing in Nepal, according to authorities. In Tibet, 558 people are reported missing, while three deaths have been confirmed. Meanwhile, the US Geological Survey has now confirmed that seismic activity initially reported as an earthquake “was instead a glacial collapse and debris flow” which “caused subsequent catastrophic impacts downstream”. Experts are also warning of the risk of further flooding. They are assessing whether debris has blocked sections of the Trishuli River, potentially creating a landslide dam which could fail and trigger a second flood.
