Germany: Germany’s far-right AfD says it is “very, very close” to taking power after a historic victory in Saxony-Anhalt’s state election. Chancellor Friedrich Merz said his CDU, which won 17.2% according to the preliminary results, was “deeply shocked” by the outcome.
