UK: Sarah Cotte, 22, has been cleared at the Old Bailey of expressing support for Hamas during a speech delivered two days after the October 7 attacks. Cotte told the gathering she offered “unconditional solidarity” with the “Palestinian armed resistance”. Prosecutors argued her comments were “thinly veiled references” to Hamas, while Cotte denied supporting the proscribed group and said she was expressing support for Palestinians’ “right to resist”. A jury found her not guilty following a retrial. She had previously been cleared of a separate charge relating to comments made in a WhatsApp group.
