UAE: The Omani co-pilot accused of trying to bring down flydubai Flight 1073 had planned to crash the aircraft at Ben Gurion Airport, according to Israeli media reports citing details from his interrogation in the UAE. A report says that the pilot – named as Hamam al-Hammami – told investigators he planned to kill the captain, continue the flight normally and obtain landing clearance before deliberately crashing into a building or aircraft at the airport. The plan was intended to leave authorities little time to realise what was happening. The report adds that Hammami had flown to Ben Gurion several times previously and used a visit in June to gather information for the attack. He allegedly planned to carry it out in July but abandoned the attempt at the last moment because he was friends with one of the crew members.
