Germany: Violent riots erupted in Frankfurt and several other German cities on Saturday evening following nationwide demonstrations over rising living costs, education funding and military service. Masked rioters smashed shop windows, looted businesses and threw Molotov cocktails at police in Frankfurt, while barricades were set alight in Hamburg. According to German police, 27 officers were injured and up to 56 people arrested in Berlin, while more than 30 arrests were reported in Frankfurt. The unrest followed largely peaceful demonstrations across 34 German cities, organised by a youth-led protest movement.
