UK: Salford City Council is reportedly expected to redirect £120,000 originally earmarked for a centenary project involving street art towards Jewish community initiatives, following an investigation by the Jewish Chronicle. The news outlet revealed that £600,000 in government funding provided following last year’s deadly Heaton Park synagogue terror attack had instead been allocated to unrelated projects, including murals, football activities and workshops. Following criticism, council officials have proposed a revised £250,000 funding package specifically supporting Jewish community initiatives, including an additional £50,000 from a separate fund. However, approximately £400,000 of the original funding would still go towards wider community projects.
