Israel: Rabbi Dov Landau, the leading rabbinic authority of Degel HaTorah, has confirmed that veteran MKs Moshe Gafni and Uri Maklev will not stand in the upcoming election. Rabbi Landau’s office said the Rabbi wrote to the two this evening, thanking them for their years of service and particularly their fight to maintain the exemption of yeshiva students from military service. “However, due to the need to refresh the Knesset members, the two will leave the Knesset in order to bring in new representatives,” the statement said.
