UK: The Government has urged households across Britain to stockpile food, bottled water and other essential supplies in preparation for possible emergencies, including cyber attacks, natural disasters and disruption caused by hostile states. Defence Secretary Wes Streeting launched a “national resilience conversation” on Thursday, warning that increasingly sophisticated cyber attacks and threats from hostile states or terrorists could disrupt everyday services and supply chains. New Government guidance advises households to keep emergency supplies sufficient for at least three days, including non-perishable food, bottled water, a battery-powered or wind-up radio, torches, blankets, first aid supplies and some cash. The initiative is part of a new national campaign aimed at helping the public prepare for situations in which electricity, water, communications or payment systems become unavailable.
