The Hague: Ratko Mladic, the former Bosnian Serb military commander convicted of genocide, has died aged 84. Mladic, known as the “Butcher of Bosnia”, was serving a life sentence for atrocities committed during the 1992-95 Bosnian war, including the 1995 Srebrenica genocide, in which more than 8,000 Bosniak Muslim men and boys were killed. He had been held at the UN detention centre in The Hague since being transferred there following his arrest in 2011. Join EJN:
