UK: Prime Minister Andy Burnham has announced new rules to crack down on unfair parking fines issued by private parking companies across England, Scotland and Wales. Under the changes, drivers will be given five minutes to decide whether to park and a further 10-minute grace period after their parking session ends. Charges for minor mistakes, such as entering the wrong registration number, will be capped at £20 following an appeal, while fines may be cancelled for breakdowns, medical emergencies or faulty ticket machines. The maximum parking charge will remain £100. Companies that breach the new rules could lose access to DVLA records. Join EJN:
