*✨ Torah Studies Class Recap – Tonight at Lubavitch Aventura South ✨* What a beautiful evening it was! Tonight’s In-Depth Parshah class was filled with warmth, insight, and delicious sushi 🍣 + wine 🍷. Men and women gathered around the table for a deep dive into the rhythms of Torah study, the moon, and our relationship with G-d. A heartfelt thank you to Eva Iglicki for generously sponsoring the evening in honor of her son’s Bar Mitzvah — יצחק בן יונה — Mazal Tov! 😇 And in honor of אברהם בן סיגל for a complete and speedy recovery. *Key takeaways from tonight’s discussion:* The first half of the month (as the moon grows) represents our progressive growth in Torah and mitzvot. The second half (as the moon shrinks) is not a step backward — it’s a higher stage. True greatness isn’t about expanding our own footprint, but about diminishing the ego so we can draw closer to G-d. During the day we are “awash in light” and don’t feel the same yearning. At night, when G-d feels more hidden, that very darkness awakens our deepest longing for Him. That’s why we learn Torah by day to acquire knowledge — and by night to forge a deeper, more personal connection. These two cycles (day/night and the two halves of the month) form one continuous path. The spiritual peak we reach in the “light” times naturally fuels the yearning and growth that come in the “darker” times. There is a daily obligation on every Jew — not only scholars — to study Torah and to actively remember what we learn. Torah is the source of life itself; forgetting it is like forfeiting life, while holding onto it is clinging to life. As the nights grow longer, we are called to increase our commitment to nighttime Torah study. And if we ever “forget” in order to relearn something in a deeper, better way, that forgetting is actually permitted and even productive. The energy in the room was palpable — questions, smiles, and that special feeling when Torah lights up the evening. Everyone is looking forward to next Monday, 8:30 PM. Same place, same table, new insights.
