Florida's first statewide report on mandatory condominium safety inspections found that 54 buildings were deemed unsafe or uninhabitable over the past two years under inspection requirements enacted after the 2021 collapse of the Champlain Towers South condominium in Surfside. According to the report, milestone inspections identified 30 buildings in 2024 and 24 buildings in 2025 as unsafe or uninhabitable. State officials said most of those buildings were not evacuated, with local building officials instead overseeing repairs, occupancy restrictions or other safety measures.
