*DeSantis Credits Florida Rescue Flights After Oct. 7* Gov. Ron DeSantis on Wednesday praised Florida’s emergency management system for helping bring thousands of Americans home from Israel after the Oct. 7 terrorist attacks. Speaking at Florida International University in Miami, DeSantis pointed to those rescue missions as proof of how quickly the state can move when people are stranded. “We got thousands of people,” he said. The comments came as DeSantis introduced a new emergency management training program at FIU and formally presented Jared Perdue as the state’s new emergency management chief. *Florida Scoop’s Take:* Hurricane season is still the main job. But this was DeSantis reminding people that Florida’s emergency teams have also been used far beyond the state line.
