*DeSantis On Palm Beach Clerk Arrest: “World Of Hurt” If Convicted* Palm Beach County Clerk Michael Caruso was arrested this morning on five felony child sex abuse charges. Gov. Ron DeSantis immediately suspended him from office. Caruso, a former state representative appointed by DeSantis exactly one year ago, faces charges including kidnapping, lewd or lascivious molestation, lewd or lascivious exhibition, luring or enticing a child, and child abuse. The alleged victim is a child under 12. Speaking about the case, DeSantis pointed to Florida’s death penalty law for certain child sex offenses. “We are the first state to reintroduce the death penalty for pedophiles. I’m proud that I signed that into law, and I’m proud that we have very strong penalties for people that abuse children. And if he’s convicted, he is going to be in for a world of hurt.”
