Ken Griffin (Citadel founder/CEO, Miami-based billionaire) donated $2.5 million in May 2026 to Stronger Safer Nation, a super PAC supporting Republican U.S. Sen. Ashley Moody in Florida’s 2026 special Senate election. This was disclosed in Federal Election Commission filings covering the second quarter. It was the PAC’s largest single contribution in the period. Stronger Safer Nation (an independent-expenditure-only committee that cannot coordinate with the candidate’s campaign) raised more than $3.3 million that quarter, bringing its total since launching in March 2025 to nearly $11.7 million. After spending about $822,000, it reported nearly $11 million cash on hand. Other notable donors to the PAC in the same period included Florida homebuilder Mori Hosseini ($100,000), U.S. Sugar ($100,000), Marjorie Buckley ($250,000), GL Homes ($50,000), and others. The group has ties to Republican strategists including pollster Tony Fabrizio and adviser Chris LaCivita. Griffin issued a statement praising Moody: “Ashley Moody has committed nearly half her life to public service on behalf of the people of Florida. I am proud to support her as she continues to advance the principles of freedom and opportunity that have made Florida an exceptional place to live, work, and raise a family.” Florida GOP Chair Evan Power noted Griffin’s Florida residency (he relocated Citadel’s headquarters from Chicago to Miami) and longstanding Republican support. A Griffin spokesperson framed the gift as policy-driven rather than a sign of worry about the race.
