Leib Column: Byron Donalds Should Be Florida’s Next Governor Bryan Leib published a new Florida’s Voice column arguing that Congressman Byron Donalds is the candidate who can protect what he calls the “Florida Dream.” Leib writes that Donalds came to Florida as a teenager from Brooklyn, built a career in banking and finance, married Erika, raised three sons in Southwest Florida, served in the Florida House, and later won a seat in Congress. The column contrasts that story with Democrat David Jolly, a former Republican congressman and Washington lobbyist who later left the GOP, became a Democrat, and has drawn criticism from Leib for shifting positions on issues including abortion, guns, and gender-affirming care. Leib’s argument is simple: Florida should pick a governor whose convictions stay the same after the cameras turn off. Florida Scoop’s Take: This is one more high-profile conservative voice lining up behind Donalds as the governor’s race sharpens.
