Broward County Pushes Mixed-Use Plans Around Amerant Bank Arena Broward County has filed conceptual plans for a major mixed-use project surrounding Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise, home of the Florida Panthers. Most of the development would sit on the arena’s existing parking lots. The proposal includes up to 1.62 million square feet of office space, as many as 600 hotel rooms, commercial space, and multifamily housing. The plans build on the earlier lease extension that gave the Panthers exclusive rights to propose development on the surrounding county-owned land. No final approvals are in place yet. The project remains in the early conceptual stage.
