*Trump-Backed Byron Donalds Expects DeSantis Support After Florida GOP Primary* Byron Donalds says he anticipates Gov. Ron DeSantis will back his campaign for governor once the Republican primary ends Tuesday. “The governor’s been focused on leading Florida and that’s what his focus has been on. Obviously, he stayed out of this primary and that’s okay. But we anticipate having his support for the stretch run this November,” Donalds said. He pointed to Virginia as a cautionary tale, noting that newly elected Gov. Abigail Spanberger quickly reversed many of the policies put in place by Republican Glenn Youngkin. “We don’t want to be what happens to Virginia… we can leave nothing to chance. We can’t just rest on our laurels,” Donalds added. Donalds, who has President Trump’s endorsement, is one of the leading contenders in the crowded Florida GOP primary for governor.
