Biotech stocks are enjoying a strong rally as drug-trial results, acquisitions and AI-assisted research revive investor interest, CNBC reported Saturday. The iShares Biotechnology ETF was up 24% this year through Friday, following a 28% gain in 2025, and two dozen holdings had more than doubled. Moderna was a standout despite a sharp Thursday decline after leaked vaccine-trial results. Eli Lilly's next-generation obesity treatment retatrutide produced up to 30% weight loss in trials and is headed toward an FDA filing in early 2027. Drugmakers are also buying smaller companies to replace revenue threatened by expiring patents, helping fuel the sector's gains.
