Wall Street closed lower Friday as oil prices climbed to their highest level in more than four years. The S&P 500 fell 0.5%, marking its second straight weekly loss, while the Dow dropped 1.2% and the Nasdaq slipped 0.2%. Brent crude rose 3.1% to $116.72 a barrel, up from less than $97 at the start of October. Nearly three-quarters of S&P 500 stocks fell, though Micron and Intel gained. Rising bond yields and US inflation above 3% added pressure, with the Federal Reserve having raised its benchmark rate at its last meeting, according to AP's Friday report.
