*Marathon Update: Over 10,000 Runners Brave the Rain* A total of 10,336 runners took part in today’s Staten Island Half Marathon despite steady rain. The race began in St. George in two waves, at 8:00 and 8:30 a.m., following a 13.1-mile course through Fort Wadsworth and along Father Capodanno Boulevard before returning to the finish. Street closures affected Bay Street, Richmond Terrace, School Road, Lily Pond Avenue and other sections along the route, requiring drivers to detour around the race. The city listed the event through 12:30 p.m., though exact street reopening times were left to the NYPD. The top men’s finisher completed the course in 1 hour, 4 minutes and 35 seconds. The separate NYC Marathon through all five boroughs takes place November 1. *_Join the Island Media WhatsApp Status_* https://wa.me/19297271071?text=Subscribe *_Join the Island News and Updates group_* https://chat.whatsapp.com/Bi5MGP3Nx1qJUoVkKmYW5j
