*SUKKOS STORM: Staten Island Faces Cleanup After a Rough Yom Tov — Part 1* Flooded roads, fallen trees and power outages marked the first days of Sukkos across Staten Island. Governor Kathy Hochul declared a state of emergency ahead of the nor’easter. Strong winds blew sukkahs over and caused others to collapse. Shmira’s non-Jewish workers traveled around the neighborhood on Yom Tov morning, helping restore damaged sukkahs so families could use them for the mitzvah of sitting in the sukkah. Con Edison reported 1,663 customers lost power between Friday evening and Shabbos morning, with all but 111 restored by late morning. At least 452 customers were without power Sunday morning. By Sunday evening, rainfall measured 2.55 inches in Eltingville and 1.77 inches at the College of Staten Island, with more rain following overnight. *_Join the Island Media WhatsApp Status_* https://wa.me/19297271071?text=Subscribe *_Join the Island News and Updates group_* https://chat.whatsapp.com/Bi5MGP3Nx1qJUoVkKmYW5j
