The vehicle’s license plate was clearly visible in the footage, allowing Sanitation officials to track down the offender. Two fines totaling $8,000 were issued, with half the money going to the resident. Under DSNY’s Illegal Dumping Award Program, witnesses can receive up to 50% of fines collected when their evidence leads to a penalty.
