*City Hall: Mayor Orders NYPD Use-of-Force Review* Mayor Mamdani ordered the NYPD’s first use-of-force review in a decade today, alongside reforms aimed at strengthening police accountability. The announcement follows an officer’s retirement with a disability pension before a disciplinary trial over the fatal shooting of a Queens teenager during a mental health crisis. The changes include a notification system intended to prevent retirements from bypassing disciplinary proceedings, $2.6 million to expand police oversight, and clearer procedures for sharing investigation findings with families. Police unions criticized the package, saying the mayor must also address alleged bias and dysfunction at the Civilian Complaint Review Board. *_Join the Island Media WhatsApp Status_* https://wa.me/19297271071?text=Subscribe *_Join the Island News and Updates group_* https://chat.whatsapp.com/Bi5MGP3Nx1qJUoVkKmYW5j
