*Trash Rules: Skipping the NYC Bin Could Cost You* Sanitation fines are now being issued to properties with one to nine residential units that fail to use the required official NYC trash bin. Enforcement began September 8, following a summer warning period. Penalties start at $50 for the first offense, rise to $100 for the second, and reach $200 for each additional offense. The bins are available at Staten Island’s three Home Depot locations.
