Hamas and Islamic Jihad Form Unlikely Election Alliance With Dahlan Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad have agreed to form an electoral coalition with Mohammed Dahlan, the former senior Fatah official who now has close ties to the UAE. Islamic Jihad deputy leader Mohammed al-Hindi confirmed the alliance to the Associated Press. The coalition is expected to support a unified list made up largely of independent figures rather than prominent members of the terrorist groups. The alliance could challenge Mahmoud Abbas's Fatah if Palestinian parliamentary elections scheduled for November 28 actually take place. They would be the first such elections in 20 years. Abbas has postponed elections before, including in 2021.
