Arabs Protest Jewish Sukkot Ritual on the Temple Mount Arab reports expressed outrage after Jewish visitors reportedly brought the Four Species onto the Temple Mount and performed the traditional Sukkot waving ritual. One set was reportedly left at the site. Some Arab accounts described the Four Species as a “plant offering,” but this is incorrect. The Four Species — lulav, etrog, myrtle and willow — are used to fulfill a Biblical commandment during Sukkot. They are not a Temple sacrifice and are not offered on the altar. A Mincha offering in the Temple was an entirely separate ritual, generally consisting of fine flour, often accompanied by oil and frankincense.
