Iran Claims U.S. Faked Dramatic Rescue of Airman Shot Down Over Iran An IRGC spokesperson has accused the United States of staging the dramatic rescue of an American airman whose F-15E was shot down over Iran in April. Hossein Mohebbi called the rescue story “Hollywood propaganda,” questioning how the airman could have survived after his parachute was badly damaged. The U.S. account is very different. CBS News interviewed the airman, known by the callsign “Bravo,” who said he survived the fall with a broken back, arm and shoulder before hiding in Iran for two days and being rescued by U.S. forces.
