US Ends Blanket Arms Export Denial Policy for Syria Syria is no longer subject to the United States' blanket policy of denying licenses for arms exports and other defense trade. Effective October 1, requests involving Syria will instead be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. The change does not approve any weapons sale to Syria. Individual transfers still require US approval.
