Iran-Backed Iraqi Militia Officer Reportedly Killed Fighting Alongside Houthis in Yemen Ahmed Awad Kazim al-Lami, reportedly a lieutenant colonel in the 28th Brigade of Iraq's Iran-backed Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), was killed while fighting alongside Houthi forces in Taiz, Yemen, according to Arab media reports. His body is reportedly being held at a Houthi-controlled military hospital in Sanaa. If confirmed, his involvement would highlight the operational links between Iran-aligned armed groups across the Middle East. Iran has spent years supporting allied militias in Iraq, Yemen, Lebanon, and elsewhere through weapons, training, and military assistance. The reported death illustrates concerns that the Houthis' military operations are part of a broader regional network of Iranian-backed forces. Credit: אח'בר אלעאלם אלערבי أخبار من العالم العربي
