*Tamir Morag: The Lebanese Army Disarmament Pilot Has Failed* Tamir Morag writes that Israel is now speaking more openly than before about what it sees as the failure of the Lebanese Army’s attempt to disarm Hezbollah. According to a senior Israeli political source cited by Morag, the Lebanese Army is not only failing to carry out its obligations, but is also believed to be coordinating its activity with Hezbollah, from the level of army chief Rodolphe Haykal down to troops in the field. Morag argues that the conclusion in Jerusalem is becoming increasingly clear: Lebanon is unable to dismantle Hezbollah on its own. With talks between Israel and Lebanon reportedly pushed back to October, his assessment is that Israel may ultimately conclude that only the IDF can remove Hezbollah’s military infrastructure.
