*Taiwan Opens Its First Jewish Cemetery* Taiwan has inaugurated its first Jewish cemetery, allowing members of the local Jewish community to be buried on the island according to Jewish tradition instead of being transported abroad. The cemetery is part of a growing Jewish infrastructure in Taiwan that includes a community center, synagogue, school, mikvah and kosher restaurant. The cemetery’s first burial took place in June. Around 1,500 Jews are estimated to live in Taiwan.
